And I'm so grateful that I get to do this every day! I started singing with serious focus in my teens and it's stayed with me ever since. Immersing myself in music and arts through school and university, I graduated with a BA Hons (Contemporary Arts) from The Nottingham Trent University and started building my professional portfolio from the minute I ceremonially threw the mortar board in the air.

With a passion for teaching singing, I got my 1st job in 2002 and was soon working in schools, colleges and stage schools across Yorkshire, leading community arts workshops and teaching privately. After gaining my PGCE, and later Management, and Coaching & Mentoring quals (ILM), I went onto work nationally to train music teachers and to develop curriculum for music performance and technology courses with Access To Music.

 

I've been working with the Arts Barge for some years now and love my role developing and delivering core music projects for schools, wider community participation and festivals.

Most recently I have joined the team at Upfaders delivering vocal tuition, and workshops in wider musicianship skills, writing and music performance.

To date, my performance and recording work spans pop, soul, disco and funk through to rock, jazz and blues... and anything in between. I've had the privilege of singing at festivals and in beautiful venues across the UK and Europe; performing original work, as well as with a host of function bands to get parties started, everywhere!

 

Over the past 15 years, I've had the honour of working with a great many amazing musicians and this continues today as I enjoy life as a freelance artist and teacher. It's all about the singing!
